And although it seemed to be impossible to bring the project onto the stage after an extensive preparatory time Avantasia headlined some of the biggest summer festivals in 2008. To this day many fans recall the Avantasia live shows a magical once-in-a-lifetime concert experience.

At the end of the year a huge allstar ensemble will hit the road to bring Avantasia on stage once more. The first six shows are now confirmed, and more dates will follow.

On April 3rd the new Avantasia albums “The Wicked Symphony” and “Angel Of Babylon” will hit the stores, available as individual CDs as well as in an exclusive deluxe edition boxset featuring both albums in digibooks and an additional hard cover book with rare photos, an interview, liner notes and a biography. As Tobias said it is really a great pleasure to have been invited by the biggest German rockband ever and to accompany them  on their tour. The Scorpions has created the way for all German bands, no matter what other bands say. They were the first band that succeed also outsite Germany and they proved that they are worth listening to with countless catchy albums, mega hits and wonderful shows. I will never forget  a common show we played in Bulgaria when i was watching them from the side of the stage and how impressed i was with their performance.

Iwas totally taken by Klaus’ vocal performance when he recorded some vocals for our upcoming album. He is definitely one of the most talented rock singers ever. From the other site, we as a fans of Scorpions feel quite sad that  this will be the last chance to share the stage but on the other side we fell honoured and we are looking forward to celebrating with them on tour and share the stage for the last time.

In the fall of 2009, Sammet announced the release of two new albums, The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon, to be released on April 3, 2010. The story is set as a continuation of The Scarecrow. Some of the special guests have been announced: drummers Eric Singer, Alex Holzwarth and Felix Bohnke, keyboardist Jens Johansson of Stratovarius, as well as vocalists Michael Kiske, Bob Catley, Jørn Lande, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Klaus Meine, Russell Allen, Andre Matos and Jon Oliva.

Tobbias says”John will appear on the theatrical song called “Dead Is Just A Feeling”. We recently had a press listening last weekend in Mousse T’s prestigious Peppermint – Park studios in Hannover where we had recorded the duet with Klause Meine a couple of months ago for instance.

A number of journalists that had come from all over Europe said that they feel this is going to be simply the best Avantasia-stuff. And i must confess that i am really proud, i knew we were going to do something momentous. Jon’s song itself is like a little movie,very uncanny and it could be a perfect chapter in a horror-musicial.

In addition to the guest musician, the artwork of both “The Wicked Symphony” and “Angel of Babylon” discs has also been revealed. Its author is Thomas Ewerhard, the man who is also responsible among others for Edguy’s “Hellfire Club” and Avantasia’s last album “The Scarecrow”.

New Avantasia double disc will be available in regular edition, one box deluxe edition and 2LP editions on April 3. Any of them can be already pre-ordered at Nuclear Blast Online Shop.
