]]> Edguy will be one of the last musicians sharing the stage with German legendary rock band Scorpions. Scorpions recently announced the end of their career. But before they ultimately leave the world’s stages, the band will release its last album called “Sting in the Tail” and set off to a farewell tour “Get your Sting and Blackout – Scorpions World Tour 2010″ at late spring. Edguy will accompany them on several German dates. Those are as follows:

12. May – Frankfurt, Festhalle (GER)
14. May – Stuttgart, Schleyerhalle (GER)

]]> Tokio Hotel has just received EMMA award for “International Act of the Year” (Vuoden ulkomainen artisti) in Finland. EMMAs are awarded annually since 1983 and the winners are chosen by music critics. The awards for 2009 were announced at Emma Gaala ceremony in Helsinki’s Peacock-teatteri on Thursday, February 4. Other nominees in the international category included Alexander Rybak, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Muse, Paramore, Pink, Rammstein, Robbie Williams and The Baseballs. Complete results of EMMA awards here, nominations here.

Whole ceremony including a humorous announcement of Tokio Hotel “National Act of the Year” can be found at YLE TV (in Finnish only) within 30 days following the ceremony.

]]> There is a really cool competition on the official page of Avantasia. You have to build a statue of Tobias Sammet on the square in your city, take a picture and send it to monument@tobiassammet.com.

The master of Opera Metal and Metal Opera offers his army of loyal fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance of winning something really cool! All you have to do is talk to the mayor of your home town or the city closest to you into putting up a stone monument in honor of Tobias Sammet on a public square. The monument has to be made from solid stone, have a minimum height of 4 meters (approx 13 foot), and it should be clear that the shown person is Tobias Sammet himself.

The reward for the best monument (as chosen by a jury at tobiassammet.com) will be the publication of the photo on one of the forthcoming DVDs and a poster, signed by members of Avantasia.

In my humble opinion the whole competition is just some kind o joke. Do you remember the Michael Jackson statue? There is one big difference. Michael Jackson bought the statue and didn’t force his fans to build it. Tobias will be probably disappointed after he finds out nobody is willing to build 4 meter high statue just to win a poster…

]]> During the concert to mark the tenth anniversary of Gregorian, on November 23 at the Hamburg Operettenhaus, Edel Germany presented producer and artistic director of the Gregorian project, Frank Peterson, a Special Award for more than five million records sold worldwide.

Since 1999, when the first album, “Masters Of Chant”, was released, Gregorian has been “one of the most successful and most copied brands of contemporary music”, said Edel. For the tenth anniversary , Edel Records and Gregorian released the album “Masters Of Chant Chapter VII” and are currently on a tour of Germany and Europe.
