New graphic for Gemmus.com

Some of the regular visitors may have noticed that we are currently working very hard on improving the website. The layout is being updated with some new features, like voting, improved featured articles or other minor details. We are also working on lyrics. In few days, all songs shall be ready.

In meantime, we required also new banners for each group to be displayed under the relevant category. Here are the results. We hope you will like it!

The original webiste Affenknecht was only about Rammstein. I created a blog on that page to start this project. After creation of about 50 news about various German groups the second step came: to move the blog to a separate domain and complete the spin off.

I chose a domain name called Gemmus.com, which should be less dificult to memorize than Affenknecht (many of you complaned about the name). Gemmus.com means German Music and you will find the freshest info about your favouire groups and extend your knowledge. All the news, tour dates, later a forum will be here.

I plan to create catogories for following groups: Edguy, Krieger and KMFDM. All the best groups in Germany! Further details to follow, stay tunned!

IMPORTANT: Affenknecht will continue and provide news only about Rammstein. It may happen, that the same news will be on both websites.

Tourdates implementation

I am now trying very hard to implement a new feature called tour dates. It may sound very simply, but the whole thing is more complex than it appears. First of all I want to point out the fact that I will have to create layouts for many bands. If you click on the button on the top (TourDates) you will be redirected to all upcoming events (all artists). There is a menu on the right linking to each artist, where you you can see not only upcoming events, but also the pas ones.

There are two problems to be solved: who for the god sake will input all the data to our database? I was lucky and found a guy who will do it for particular amount of money. The second problem is how to interconnect the tour database with the released articles. I will have to think a lot, my idea is to release a post every time there is a concert date and somehow make it automatic. Hopefully if I manage to do so, the current old Affenknecht system used for Rammstein gigs will be replaced by this new technology.

Once again, only time will show how successful this project will be. God bless all of you.

Dear all, as you may have noticed, I created a new domain called blog.affenknecht.com. This sub-site is dedicated to bands from Germany (not necessarily singing in their mother language). I started the project with some of the band I was interested in.

The main objective of the blog is: to provide more info about German music, to extend your knowledge and to keep you updated. To find some comprehensive info in English on this topic is not that easy – that’s why I want this project to be promoted.

And now the most important thing: I am looking for people willing to write for this blog. And for the first time in history, this will be PAID (in the beginning I will donate this project, later on I will try to find some sponsors).

So if you are interested in this kind of money making, follow these steps:

Register at http://blog.affenknecht.com/wp-admin , write an article in a category you choose (please note that more German band will be added depending on your interests)
I will review your articles and in case you have 2 or 3 published articles I like, I will contact you via email with a proposal and money offer. I prefer some fresh infos written originally by you, simple copy pasting from other sources not welcomed.

This is a great opportunity for students, fresh mothers and unemployed how to make some extra cash. I prefer if you write about German bands you like (and if possible not Rammstein, this is my personal topic and I want to do it by myself).

I want to remember this moment forever. It is November 2009 and after almost 5 years I dedicated to Rammstein, I am starting a side project now under domain blog.affenknecht.com. One of the main reasons is that not only Rammstein is my favorite band. What about Axel Rudi Pell, Avantasia and the others? I realized that if I write about the music, I can get more experience, more understanding of the music and in the end I just like it more and more.

This project is like a spin off from the original Rammstein website, which will be functional in the future, no need to worry. We will see how successful this project can be. Only time will show.
