Die Toten Hosen in short

Die Toten Hosen in short

Die Toten Hosen is one of the most popular punk bands from Germany. The name die Toten Hosen means “lifeless“ or “nothing going on“. The band has been on the music scene over twenty years and as time goes by they shifted from funny and meaningless songs to serious. Their first album was mostly about enjoying life and having fun but then they began writing about serious issues such as racism or political issues. Band’s first single “Wir sind bereit“ was released in 1982 and appeared on their debut albume “Opel-Gang“ which was released next year.

Their song “Ein kleines bisschen horror schaut“ was used as a Clockword orange movie soundtrack. This movie was based on the book written by Anthony Burgess. In 1993 a German theatre version of the book in which Die Toten Hosen performed as actors and musicans was released. More than 60 000 fans came to see the band in the Düsseldorfer Rheinstadium in 1997. This preformance was unfortunatelly accompanied by an accident where a Dutch girl died in the crowd. It leaded to decision to play soft songs until the end to avoid more injures.

Later the song “Alles ist eins“ was released in memoriam for the Dutch girl. Die Toten Hosen have collaborated with a number of famous musicians such as ACDC, U2, Rolling Stones and are one of the few German punkbands popular also outside the Germany (South America, Australia, easten Europe). Now Die Toten Hosen are back with their new Cd “La Hermandad“ which icludes 19 new songs.

“Wir sind Bereit” did not appear on the original release of Opel Gang, and “Eine Kleines Bisschen Horrorschau” was the name of an album, not a song. You most likely meant “Hier kommt Alex,” a song where that line appears.
