R.: Hi boys, how it’s going?
Bill: Hi. We are fine. Actually, we are preparing for our upcoming tour.
R.: How was the year 2009?
Bill: It was year of hard work. As a band we spent most of our time in the studio recording new stuff, then our album was released and we also played many gigs. And now we are really thrilled of preparing for our forthcoming tour. So to sum up, this year was really successful and our new year wish is to play as much wonderful gigs as possible, we hope everything will go well. So that’s it.
R.: What was your best moment in 2009?
Bill: The best moment was releasing our album. We had been working on it for a long time and didn’t know what to expect, whether our fans will like it or not. It was definitely the most exciting moment. I will never forget it. But i think that everything went as we expected and we can be happy about the year 2009.
R. : Yes It is. You are really famous, people love you. Tell us how do you do that?
Tom: I believe that our bass guitarist is behind that success. To be honest. (smiling)
R.: Your bassist? Why?
Tom: He looks gorgeous, has fashion hair cut and his bass play is absolutely stunning.
R.: I want to ask you about your lyrics. They are about love, hate, pain.It is kind of adult contemporaly. But you are so young. How do you do that?
Bill: It is not matter of age. We simply write about life. We have the same life like the adults. And there is no receipt how to be famous. You just have to work hard and have luck of course.
R.: And also honesty. Your songs are also in english. Do you feel any difference between singing in English an German?
Bill: Absolutely. That are two totally different versions. You have to write songs in both languages and will get two totally different songs. And we could decide which one to pick. So we did two versions.
R.: You have become very famous in many countries, for example in South America and everywhere. Tokio Hotel is really a big revolution. Do you remember how it was at the beginning in “Durch den Monsun times”?
Bill: Yes. Things have changed. It is really funny when we think about that times. So many things changed in such a short time. We visited many different countries and played many gigs. I love our old songs. We are really proud on it and are really happy that we have the opportuniny to record new albums and go on tour.
R.: Do you have any musician you would like to cooperate?
Bill: It is quite hard question to answer because we all listen to different kind of music and it is difficult to pick only one artist. But we would love to play with Stewen Tyler or Aerosmith because for us it is one of the coolest groups.
R.: So will you do that?
Bill: That are only our plans.
R.: And what about cooperation with some hip-hop band, Tom?
Tom: I can see us doing that. But it is hard to find that calibre of band.
R.: You have really big fan base. But most of them are girls. Do you have problems with that?
Tom: We boys don’t have problems with that. We really appreciate that so many girls like us.
R.: And what about your grandmother. Does she visit your concerts?
Tom: Our grandmother. No she has never been in concert. But our family watch us on television.
R.: How do you stay in touch with your family?
Tom: Phone calls. We call to each other often. And whenever we have spare time we go home.
R.: And what about Skype?
Tom: Yes, Georg calls with his girlfriend through Skype (laughing)
R.: There are also many people that hate you? What do you thing about that?
Bill: It has always been like this. But we appreciate that. It would be much more worse if people wouldn’t have any opinion about us.
R.: I bet that even people that don’t like you sing your songs secretly at home.
Bill: I can imagine that. ( laughing)
R.: You are coming to Belgium on 25. of february. What fans should expect.
Bill: Really big show.
R.: The last question. How long does it take to prepare when you get up in the morning?
Bill: It doesn’t take a long time. It’s a routine and with shower it takes about an hour.
R.: No personal hair dresser or something?
Bill: No i do everything myself.
R.: What about you Tom. Who makes it?
Tom: I don’t do it myself. I have a hair dresser.
